  • CommonWealth Fund Centennial Video. Client is celebrating 100 years as a prime mover in health care policy development and reform. Client sought to reiterate its mission, and express the vitality and pertinence of the organization heading into its second 100 years. All of the interviews were conducted within 2 days in one location, and in fact inside of one room. In addition to lighting and shooting the interviews, capturing and monitoring audio separately, and participating in conducting the interviews, I made sure that every interviewee had a unique background and different lighting setup. It was a terrific challenge and exciting undertaking. The B-Roll was captured separately and assets reflecting the organization's multifaceted work were incorporated after the video was complete. The music was the final piece of the puzzle. <br /> <br /> Shot on Canon C200 in 2K for delivery in FullHD. Audio captured via Sennheisser shotgun and TRAM lavalier mics to Sound Devices 744t, then mixed in Audition. Edited in Adobe Premiere.
  • Shooting for Cadillac at the Monticello Race Track in upstate NY. Rain was not forecasted to be this intense, but I always pack gear for shooting in the worst weather when I know I'll be shooting outside. Shot on DSLRs in PAL format for delivery in Asia and Europe.
  • Grilling Chicken with David Leite and Jamie Purviance, sponsored by Weber Grill. Three camera DSLR shoot with separate audio capture, shot on location in upstate NY.
  • Video about the Institute for Humane Studies featuring international team of instructors during a live seminar. I used colored filters to create more dynamic backgrounds when possible. Video shot in SD, but I am very proud of how the exceptional audio quality helps these videos feel fresh and vital over time.
  • Full length video for Gone off of ARJUN's album, SPACE. Goal was to capture the raw feel of a studio recording using multiple HD cameras while also capturing the feeling of the song.
  • This is a teaser I directed for the song Radio Star, highlighting the amazing musicianship of the band members. The video is intended to excite people about the prospect of catching the band live as much as it is to promote the single.
  • I conducted this interview as part of a series highlighting issues that arise with High Needs/High Costs patients (ie the 5% of the health care population who account for well over 50% of health care costs). I made these videos on location in patients' homes and because they deal with highly personal and emotional issues, I spent time speaking with them extensively about the material we would cover before starting the interview. After we developed rapport and built trust, I turned on the camera and the subjects were extremely forthcoming. This was extremely rewarding work.
  • I conducted this video about High Needs/High Costs patients with Faustino, who was born with a cognitive impairment that stopped his intellectual development approximately at the age of 8. There were many challenges, both because his apartment was tiny and because he had difficulty expressing himself clearly. We spent a lot of time building trust with family before starting the interview, and I was prepared to record extensively to ensure that all useful communication was captured. This was emotional work, as he was recovering from an amputation that resulted from his difficulty complying with his medical regimen.
  • Grilling steak with David Leite and Jamie Purviance, sponsored by Weber Grill. I directed this three camera DSLR shoot with separate audio capture, shot on location in upstate NY. A major technical challenge involved the neighbors' having professional landscaping done. I made a highly directional supercardiod shotgun mic the main mic and used the toned down omnidirectional lavalier mics to preserve the sense of this being shot outside.

  • Music video for the song, Neon Lights, by Frank Viele and the Manhattan Project. This was shot during their live studio recording session. A three camera shoot using the Canon 5D Markii with a jib, a slider, and handheld, plus the following lenses: 35mm 1.4L, 50mm 1.2L, 70mm-200mm 2.8L IS, and a 16mm-35mm 2.8L II. Color-corrected in Apple's Color.
